Northeast Guide Service is the only commerical outfitter licensed to run the Canada Falls section of the South Branch of the Penobscot River. Registered Maine GuideRegistered Maine Guide Course (Recreation)

A Recreational Maine Guides License allows you to lead non-hunting, non-fishing outdoor trips, which include hiking, biking, skiing, canoeing, kayaking, snowmobiling, and other day and overnight trips in the state of Maine. Learn and perfect all you need to know to successfully pass the State-administered test, including Map & Compass, Lost Person, Watercraft Laws, Trip Planning, Safety, Risk Management, Camping, Outdoor Cooking, Rules and Regulations, Kayaking and Canoeing Skills, the Business Side of Guiding, and much more. This course provides the required tools to take the State of Maine-administered written test and oral boards but, of course, cannot guarantee passing. Testing and license fee not included. This is an intensive all-inclusive course with a overnight practical included.  (40-hour course)

A Registered Maine Fishing Guides License allows you to lead fishing trips on the Maine inland waters and overnight trips related to those fishing trips. Learn about safety, fishing identification, fishing equipment, fish habitat, aquatic vegetation, fishing rules and regulations, and much more. This course provides the required tools to take the State-administered written test and oral boards but, of course, cannot guarantee passing. Testing and license fee not included. (20-hour course)
